Professional Training

Our branch teachers are required to attend weekly training meetings where our lead teachers share ideas about methods to make teaching our books more effective. It’s truly a collaborative training with all the foreign and Chinese teachers taking part. Teachers are expected to share games, techniques, and insights with colleagues in a positive and fun atmosphere. In addition, all teachers participate in once weekly “share” meetings at their branch. These meetings set the tone for the week and address any issues that have come up. Our teachers are encouraged to discuss successes and challenges in order for solutions to be offered.

Outside the classroom our teachers are encouraged to continue learning their craft. Some of our teachers have used their non-teaching time to go back to college and either complete a degree or get an advanced degree. PE offers college advising not only to our students but also to our staff. Chinese staff is encouraged to improve their English skills and even take English proficiency exams like TOEFL or IELTS. We are also a certified Trinity Exam Center so Chinese staff can take those exams as well. Our foreign staff can avail themselves to free courses from Hong Kong Open University or even enroll on-line with any of the recognized universities that offer degree programs. China now requires all foreign teachers to have at least a BA degree and we offer encouragement (and in some cases scholarships) to our teachers who wish to pursue or expand their degree.
